Pahalgam Terror Attack Connection Reaches Dhanbad: ATS Raids Wasseypur, Four Detained

The brutal terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, where innocent tourists were targeted and killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists, has sent shockwaves throughout India. As the nation mourns the lives lost, people’s anger is really starting to boil over. Everywhere, you see protests, candlelight vigils, and more calls for strong action against terrorism getting louder by the day. In the midst of this national outcry, a new and worrying development has emerged from Jharkhand’s Dhanbad district.

ATS Conducts High-Profile Raid in Wasseypur

Today, the Jharkhand Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) launched a swift operation in the notorious Wasseypur locality of Dhanbad. Based on strong intelligence inputs, ATS officers raided several houses in Shamsher Nagar and detained four individuals suspected of links to extremist activities. The raid has revealed shocking insights into how radical networks may be spreading their tentacles deep into Indian cities.

What the ATS Found During the Raid

During the intensive search operation, the ATS recovered multiple smartphones, religious books, and materials suspected to be used for radicalizing young minds. Sources say that the phones that were taken are now going to be checked thoroughly to find out who they’ve been talking to, especially any foreign contacts or links to funding for terrorist groups. investigators think that digging into the digital info might help reveal a bigger terror network operating not just in Jharkhand but elsewhere too.

Identities of the Detainees Revealed

The four individuals taken into custody have been identified as Ayaan Javed, Shabnam, Yusuf, and Kaushar. Initial reports suggest they might have been involved in spreading jihadi ideology and could be indirectly linked to the Pahalgam attack. The ATS believes they are part of a larger scheme to radicalize local youth and set up sleeper cells in different states.

From Crime Hub to Terror Threat?

Wasseypur has a long reputation for its crime gangs and mafia-style stuff, often romanticized in movies and stories. But the recent ATS raid revealed a much darker reality — the slow spread of extremist ideas into the area. Authorities had already warned that smaller towns could become easy targets for radical groups, and what happened today just proves those concerns right.

Security Agencies Sound Nationwide Alert

Following the arrests in Dhanbad, security agencies across the country have been put on high alert. Intelligence units are monitoring suspected individuals and groups in multiple states. Coordination between central and state agencies has been strengthened to ensure that any emerging threat is swiftly neutralized. Officials have indicated that more raids could follow based on the leads gathered from this operation.

Political Leaders Demand Harsh Action

Top political leaders from various parties have condemned the Pahalgam attack and the Dhanbad developments. Many have called for an uncompromising approach towards domestic terror sympathizers and radical networks. "Terrorism has no religion, but sympathizing with terror groups is a crime against the nation," one senior leader remarked. The public mood echoes this sentiment, with citizens demanding zero tolerance for such elements.

Dhanbad Under Tight Security Surveillance

After the ATS operation, Dhanbad city, especially areas like Wasseypur, has been placed under intense surveillance. Additional police forces have been deployed, and security checkpoints have been established to monitor suspicious activities. Authorities have appealed to residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies in maintaining peace and law and order.

Investigation Expands Beyond Jharkhand

As the investigation progresses, ATS officials believe that the detained individuals may have wider connections spanning different states and possibly cross-border links as well. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is expected to step in to assist with the larger probe. Cyber teams are analyzing digital data, while interrogation teams are working to extract critical information regarding hidden networks and funding sources.

India’s Message to Terrorists and Their Supporters

India’s stance is becoming increasingly clear: there will be no mercy for those who threaten its peace and sovereignty. Whether through military action, diplomatic isolation, or internal crackdowns, India is prepared to hit back hard against terrorism. The government has vowed that the blood of innocent citizens will not be shed in vain.

A Wake-Up Call for the Nation

The Dhanbad incident is a stark reminder that terrorism is no longer confined to border states. It is a wake-up call for security agencies, governments, and citizens alike to stay vigilant and proactive. As India mourns the victims of Pahalgam, it also strengthens its resolve to dismantle every network that seeks to destroy its unity and peace.

He also called the air show a big milestone for Ranchi and said he’s hopeful we’ll get to see something similar again sometime soon.

Show Goes On Despite Hailstorm Challenge

Despite facing a challenge just two days prior, when three aircraft were damaged due to a hailstorm, the IAF team adapted swiftly and continued with the planned performance. This display of resilience and dedication received huge applause from the audience and officials alike.

Smooth Management and Tight Security

Security arrangements were tight, and the event was smoothly managed by local authorities, the army, and police. Emergency crews and volunteers were stationed at different spots all around to help keep the crowd safe and comfortable. Raghubar Das Takes Blessings from Shibu Soren and Wife: A Symbolic Meeting of Former Jharkhand Chief Ministers

A Memorable Gesture to Mark a Return to Politics Raghubar Das, the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, made a powerful statement of respect and reconciliation by meeting veteran leader and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief Shibu Soren. The meeting, which took place on Saturday (January 11), occurred just a day after Das rejoined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following a 14-month hiatus from active politics.

Das's visit was a sincere gesture, as he conveyed his birthday greetings to Shibu Soren and sought blessings from both Soren and his wife, Roopi Soren. This meeting represented not just a personal connection between two prominent political figures but also reflected traditional values that prioritize mutual respect and goodwill.

A Cordial Meeting at Shibu Soren’s Residence

The interaction between the two leaders unfolded at Shibu Soren’s government residence. Das met Soren in the open courtyard, where both leaders were seen seated under the winter sun, sharing a warm and friendly conversation. The sincere friendship between the two former chief ministers was demonstrated by meeting photos that were later posted on social media.

Raghubar Das also presented a bouquet to Roopi Soren, expressing his respect and appreciation for her. Roopi Soren blessed Das with both hands in exchange, turning the encounter into a poignant and meaningful occasion.

Das Shares Insights on Social Media

Raghubar Das shared moments from this significant meeting on his social media account on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter). In his post, Das referred to Shibu Soren as “Respected Baba” and expressed his admiration for the JMM leader.

“Today, I had the privilege of meeting Dishom Guru, respected Baba Shibu Soren Ji, and wished him a very happy birthday. I also took blessings from Aunty Mrs. Roopi Soren Ji,” Das wrote. His accompanying photographs showed him interacting animatedly with the seasoned leader and bending before Shibu Soren to ask for blessings.

A Request for Longevity and Good Health

Das wrote in his statement that he sincerely hoped Shibu Soren and his wife, Roopi Soren, would have long and healthy lives. Drawing a cultural parallel, he likened their bond to the divine pairing of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

“I prayed to Baba Baidyanath for a long and healthy life for both of them. May their pair remain unbroken, like Shiva-Parvati,” he added, emphasizing his respect and admiration for the couple.

The Return of Raghubar Das to Active Politics

This significant meeting took place in the backdrop of Raghubar Das’s return to active politics. Das, who served as Jharkhand’s Chief Minister from 2014 to 2019, stepped down from his role as Governor of Odisha to rejoin the BJP. His return on January 10 marked a new phase in his political career, as he prepares to play an active role in Jharkhand’s political landscape once again.

The timing of the meeting underscores the importance of personal and political gestures in fostering connections that transcend party lines and ideological differences.

The Broader Symbolism of the Meeting

This encounter between Raghubar Das and Shibu Soren carries profound symbolic value. It highlights the cultural ethos of Jharkhand, where respect for elders and unity among leaders form an integral part of the political narrative.

As two towering figures in Jharkhand’s political history exchanged pleasantries and blessings, the moment reflected the enduring spirit of dialogue and mutual respect. This meeting serves as a reminder of the need for collaborative efforts, especially in a state known for its diverse political landscape and dynamic leadership.

Suspected Al-Qaeda Operative Arrested Near Ranchi in Joint Police Operation

Major Breakthrough in Counterterrorism Efforts In a significant development, a suspected Al-Qaeda operative, Shahbaz Ansari, has been arrested from Chanho, near Ranchi, in a joint operation conducted by the Delhi Police Special Cell and Jharkhand Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). Jharkhand ATS SP Rishabh Jha confirmed the arrest, stating that Ansari was wanted in case number 301/24 of the Delhi Police Special Cell.

Past Crackdowns on Al-Qaeda Network in Jharkhand

The arrest comes in the wake of continued operations targeting Al-Qaeda's network in the Indian Subcontinent. Last year, Jharkhand Police ATS apprehended eight individuals suspected of ties to the terrorist organization, while six others undergoing training in Rajasthan were also detained. The fact that the majority of the accused are from Jharkhand highlights the state's growing involvement in terrorist inquiries.

Among those arrested last year was Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmed, a private hospital doctor in Ranchi, identified as a mastermind behind the group’s operations. His arrest followed a raid at Al Hasan Residency in Bariatu, Ranchi, based on inputs from Delhi Police. Another key suspect, Faizan Ahmed, was nabbed in Hazaribagh during the same period.

Shahbaz Ansari’s Arrest: A Coordinated Operation

Acting on intelligence, the police received information that Shahbaz Ansari had returned to his native village, Chitari, near the Ranchi-Lohardaga border. A joint team of Delhi Police Special Cell and Jharkhand ATS acted swiftly, apprehending Ansari, who had been on the run since raids conducted last year.

Earlier raids at Ansari’s house and other locations linked to suspects had unearthed weapons and objectionable documents. However, Ansari had managed to evade capture until now.

Nine Arrests Linked to Al-Qaeda in Jharkhand

So far, authorities have arrested nine individuals from Jharkhand in connection with Al-Qaeda activities. The suspects include:

  1. MD Modabbir
  2. MD Rizwan
  3. Mufti Rahmatullah Majhiri
  4. Matiur Rahman
  5. Enamul Ansari
  6. Shahbaz Ansari
  7. Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmed (Ranchi)
  8. Faizan Ahmed (Hazaribagh)
  9. Iltaf Ansari (Lohardaga)

Investigators revealed that the group was involved in a larger conspiracy aimed at declaring "Khilafat" and orchestrating anti-national activities.

Emerging Research and Persistent Difficulties

An important step in breaking up Al-Qaeda's network in the area has been taken with Shahbaz Ansari's arrest. However, authorities acknowledge that the threat persists, with several suspects still under surveillance. The operations have highlighted the importance of inter-agency coordination and the need for continuous monitoring to prevent extremist activities in the state.

As investigations continue, law enforcement agencies are committed to uncovering the full extent of the network’s plans and ensuring national security remains uncompromised.

The hike raises the DA from 50% to 53% as per the seventh pay scale guidelines issued by the state government. However, arrears for the period from July 2024 to December 2024 will only be disbursed once funds are available in the university's PL account. Ranchi: Sadar Zonal Officer Munshi Ram Arrested Red-Handed by ACB While Taking Bribe

In a major step against corruption, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) successfully apprehended Ranchi Sadar Zonal Officer Munshi Ram red-handed while accepting a bribe on Thursday. Following a formal complaint about a land-related issue, ACB officials carefully organized the operation that resulted in the arrest.

The Arrest-Resulting Complaint

The Anti-Corruption Bureau was contacted by a complainant who claimed that Munshi Ram had asked for a bribe in order to settle a land-related dispute. Despite repeated appeals from the complainant, the officer allegedly refused to process the work without receiving the bribe. Frustrated by the blatant demand, the complainant filed an official complaint with the ACB.

Acting swiftly, the ACB team initiated a detailed investigation. The team chose to set up a trap to catch Munshi Ram in the act after confirming the claims and obtaining enough proof.

Caught in the Act: The Arrest Operation

On Thursday, the ACB executed its plan with precision and caught Munshi Ram red-handed while he was accepting the bribe. The officer was immediately taken into custody and escorted to the ACB headquarters for questioning.

While the exact amount of the bribe money recovered has not been officially disclosed, reliable sources within the agency have confirmed that substantial evidence has been collected, and the investigation is currently underway.

Corruption in Land Issues: An Increasing Issue

Land-related corruption has been a persistent challenge in the region, leading to considerable delays in land clearances and preventing citizens from accessing their rightful services. The apprehension of a high-ranking official, such as Munshi Ram, underscores the imperative for robust measures to address corruption within government agencies.

Corruption not only hinders administrative efficiency but also erodes public confidence in governmental institutions.

The Commitment of ACB to Justice

The Anti-Corruption Bureau reaffirmed its commitment to fostering transparency and accountability within public institutions. Officials highlighted that no individual, irrespective of their status or influence, would be exempt from scrutiny if found guilty of corrupt practices. The ACB has guaranteed the public that each complaint will be regarded with the highest level of seriousness and thoroughly investigated.

A Call for Public Vigilance

In light of this arrest, the ACB has urged citizens to come forward and report any incidents of bribery or corruption without hesitation. They emphasized that whistleblowers’ identities would be kept confidential and their complaints would be investigated rigorously.

This arrest serves as a strong warning to officials engaging in corrupt practices and a sign of hope for citizens who rely on public services. The investigation into Munshi Ram’s case is ongoing, and further updates are expected soon.

With continued public cooperation and strict enforcement by agencies like the ACB, Ranchi moves one step closer to a corruption-free administration.

Ranchi Christian Community Marks the Start of 2025 with Special Worship Services

The Christian community in Ranchi ushered in the New Year with deep faith and devotion, gathering in churches throughout the city to participate in special worship services. Worshippers were able to ask for divine blessings, offer prayers for peace, joy, and prosperity in the upcoming year, and express appreciation for the previous year during these gatherings. Hymns, prayers, and spiritual zeal permeated the air, establishing a mood of respect and introspection for 2025.

St. Paul’s Cathedral Hosts the Main Celebration

The most prominent service took place at St. Paul’s Cathedral, where Bishop BB Baske led the New Year’s service. Bishop Baske stressed in his sermon the value of beginning the year with a solid spiritual foundation and faith in God. He urged the crowd to trust in the Triune God, who is the only one who can bring everyone peace and salvation.

Bishop Baske Considers What "Emmanuel" Means

Bishop Baske addressed the congregation regarding the biblical principle of 'Emmanuel,' signifying 'God is with us.' He emphasized that the continual presence of Jesus Christ among humanity instills hope and provides direction in life. The bishop assured the audience that God remains with them at all times, offering guidance, strength, and tranquility in every moment.

Restoring Purpose Through Faith

Bishop Baske also covered in his lecture how sin and hopelessness can cause people to lose sight of their own life's purpose. The Holy Spirit can regenerate and alter the lives of the faithful, he reminded them. With the words, "Jesus brings clarity and restores the true meaning of life," the bishop exhorted the crowd to allow the Holy Spirit to lead them to divine truth and justice.

  • To kick off the new year, Ranchi unveils an ambitious urban redevelopment plan.
    My India Times      2025-01-02  203

To kick off the new year, Ranchi unveils an ambitious urban redevelopment plan.

An Idea for a Contemporary, Tidy, and Effective Ranchi

The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has ushered in the New Year with the implementation of an ambitious Urban Redevelopment Plan designed to transform the city into a cleaner, more efficiently managed, and sustainable urban center. This initiative places a strong emphasis on infrastructure enhancement, improved cleanliness, and traffic decongestion, aiming to tackle critical civic challenges while establishing a platform for long-term development. Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Kumar remarked, 'This initiative signifies our dedication to fostering a city that harmonizes modernization with sustainability.' Every phase will have defined timelines and regular monitoring to ensure effective implementation."

Road Infrastructure Overhaul: Enhancing Connectivity Across 53 Wards

The plan prioritizes a city-wide road assessment and improvement program. Teams of junior engineers, assistant engineers, ward supervisors, and project managers will carry out a physical survey across all 53 city wards. Roads will be categorized into four conditions: Good, Average, Poor, and Very Poor.

A thorough action plan will be developed to handle road maintenance, resurfacing, and repairs based on these evaluations. Priority attention will be given to commercial hubs, arterial routes, and high-traffic regions in order to reduce interruptions and guarantee more efficient traffic flow.

"Well-maintained roads are fundamental to urban development, and this initiative aims to provide Ranchi with a reliable road network," added Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Kumar.

Revitalizing Public Spaces: Cleanliness and Beautification Initiatives

Public spaces, including parks, heritage sites, and major intersections, will undergo extensive maintenance and beautification. Weekly cleanliness campaigns, regular inspections, and enhanced waste management systems are all part of the strategy.

Cleaner and safer public places will be experienced by residents and visitors thanks to the revitalization of recreational areas and heritage monuments.

Town Planner Ram Badan Singh remarked, "Clean public spaces are not just about aesthetics—they directly impact public health and the overall urban experience. Our groups are dedicated to making long-lasting progress in these domains."

    Traffic Management and Anti-Encroachment Drives

Traffic congestion has been one of Ranchi’s persistent issues, and the redevelopment plan addresses it with targeted measures. Special anti-encroachment drives will be launched to clear illegally occupied public spaces, particularly in high-traffic zones and marketplaces.

In collaboration with the traffic police, smarter traffic management systems will be introduced at major junctions to streamline vehicle flow and reduce bottlenecks.

Active Citizen Participation: A Shared Responsibility

Recognizing the importance of community involvement, RMC plans to launch citizen-centric initiatives encouraging active participation in urban maintenance. Feedback systems will be implemented to allow residents to report concerns related to roads, cleanliness, and traffic.

Additionally, awareness campaigns will educate citizens about their role in maintaining cleanliness and adhering to urban laws.

"The cooperation of residents is essential for the success of this redevelopment plan. Together, we can create a city that reflects pride and responsibility," emphasized Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Kumar.

    Transparent Execution with Defined Timelines

To ensure accountability and timely execution, RMC has established strict timelines for every phase of the plan. A comprehensive report detailing the condition of roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems will be compiled and submitted to the state government within three days.

Quarterly reviews and audits will monitor progress, identify challenges, and resolve bottlenecks efficiently.

Shaping the Future of Ranchi: A Sustainable Roadmap

The Urban Redevelopment Plan is more than just a short-term initiative—it’s a strategic blueprint for the future of Ranchi. With its focus on modern infrastructure, environmental sustainability, and community collaboration, the plan envisions a city that can accommodate growth while preserving its cultural identity.

"This project isn’t merely about fixing roads or cleaning spaces—it’s about transforming Ranchi into a model city that meets the expectations of its citizens and stands as an example for other urban centers," concluded Sanjay Kumar.

Call to Action: A Collective Effort for a Better Ranchi

RMC urges all citizens to actively participate in this transformation journey by cooperating with municipal authorities, reporting grievances, and fostering a sense of shared responsibility.

This Urban Redevelopment Plan serves as a stepping stone for Ranchi’s bright future, blending innovation, accountability, and citizen engagement to build a city that is cleaner, smarter, and more livable for all.

  • Year-End 2024: Political Development in Jharkhand: Achievements and Setbacks
    My India Times   2024-12-31  93

Year-End 2024: Political Development in Jharkhand: Achievements and Setbacks

With major changes, surprising coalitions, and a rollercoaster of wins and losses, 2024 turned out to be a pivotal year in Jharkhand's political history. From arrests and political comebacks to rising stars and fading legacies, Jharkhand's political arena witnessed intense drama and critical turning points.

Hemant Soren: From Crisis to Comeback

Hemant Soren, the face of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Chief Minister, experienced a tumultuous year. On January 31, 2024, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested him over alleged corruption charges, triggering widespread protests across the state. His arrest led to a tribal bandh and significant political upheaval. However, after spending five months in judicial custody, Hemant was granted bail due to lack of concrete evidence. After his return, he resumed the Chief Minister's seat with newfound enthusiasm and was instrumental in mobilizing the INDIA Alliance to win a resounding victory in the Assembly elections.

Kalpana Soren: A Rising Political Force

In the wake of her husband's arrest, Kalpana Soren stepped into the political limelight. On March 4, 2024, she addressed a massive crowd in Giridih's Jhanda Maidan, marking her formal entry into active politics. She became the JMM's spokesperson for tenacity with her incisive remarks and resolute campaign tactics. Her status as a rising political figure in Jharkhand was solidified when she won the Gandey Assembly by-election.

    Jairam Mahato: The Regional Challenger

Jairam Mahato emerged as a key regional leader in 2024. While his party secured only one Assembly seat, his impact extended far beyond numbers. His focused campaigns and fiery rhetoric disrupted the BJP-AJSU alliance in over a dozen constituencies. Though his party fell short electorally, Jairam Mahato positioned himself as a formidable force in Jharkhand politics.

    Sita Soren: A Political Misstep

Sita Soren, once a key JMM leader, made headlines when she switched allegiance to the BJP, citing neglect and disrespect by her former party. However, her gamble proved costly. She faced defeats in both the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, significantly diminishing her political influence.

    Geeta Koda: A Political Downfall

Geeta Koda’s switch from Congress to BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha elections was seen as a strategic move. However, her political fortunes took a nosedive as she lost both the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. Despite being appointed as BJP's State Working President, Geeta’s political relevance dwindled.

    Champai Soren: A Brief Reign

After Hemant Soren’s arrest, Champai Soren was appointed Chief Minister, offering a brief period of stability. However, his tenure ended on July 3, 2024, when he resigned amidst internal party conflicts. Frustrated, he later joined the BJP. Although he managed to retain his Saraikela seat, his move failed to bring substantial gains for the BJP.

    Alamgir Alam: Scandal and Survival

Alamgir Alam’s year was marred by controversy. Arrested on May 16, 2024, in connection with a tender scam, his political career seemed at risk. However, his wife Nisat Alam contested and won an Assembly seat, offering some relief to the family amidst ongoing investigations.

    Sameer Oraon: Consecutive Defeats

Sameer Oraon, a senior BJP leader, faced back-to-back setbacks in 2024. He lost the Lohardaga Lok Sabha seat by over one lakh votes and suffered another defeat in the Bishunpur Assembly constituency. These losses cast a shadow over his political future.

    Sudesh Mahto: A Shrinking Influence

AJSU supremo Sudesh Mahto faced one of his most challenging years. His party managed to secure only one Assembly seat out of ten contested, reflecting a sharp decline in influence. Even in the Lok Sabha elections, his candidate won with a narrow margin.

    Babulal Marandi: A Leadership Crisis

For BJP State President Babulal Marandi, 2024 was a year of significant setbacks. The party's poor performance in both the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections raised questions about his leadership and strategy. Internal party tensions further added to his woes.

    Amar Bauri: A Shocking Defeat

Leader of Opposition Amar Bauri faced an unexpected loss in the Chandankiyari Assembly constituency, slipping to third place. This defeat, after two consecutive victories, dealt a severe blow to his political career.

Conclusion: A Year of Political Transformation

The year 2024 reshaped Jharkhand's political canvas, with moments of extraordinary resilience and shocking failures. While Hemant and Kalpana Soren emerged as symbols of political survival and strength, others like Sita Soren, Geeta Koda, and Babulal Marandi faced sharp political declines. As the dust settles on this eventful year, Jharkhand gears up for a new era of leadership, alliances, and political strategies that will shape its future.

Brown Sugar Smuggling Racket Cracked: Ranchi Police Nab Two Key Suspects, Hunt On for Third Accomplice

In a major operation, Ranchi Police have successfully arrested Himanshu Yadav alias Lalu Yadav and Sushant Yadav alias Vicky Yadav, two notorious criminals from Chudi Center Gali, Ratu Road. The duo was deeply involved in smuggling brown sugar sourced from a supplier known as Bhabhiji of Sasaram, Bihar. This supplier has been recognized as a key player in the drug trade in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Ranchi.

    How the Operation Unfolded

Based on a confidential tip-off, police launched a well-planned operation and apprehended Himanshu and Sushant at Lah Kothi Guava Garden Ground under Sukhdev Nagar Police Station limits. Investigations revealed that the two suspects regularly visited Sasaram in Bihar to purchase brown sugar from Bhabhiji before smuggling it into Ranchi’s illegal drug market.

    The Search for Ambar Kumar

Authorities are now intensifying efforts to locate Ambar Kumar, another critical member of this smuggling network. Ambar, son of Babla Ram from Kokar Bazartand, Ranchi, is suspected of managing distribution channels in the city. Police sources indicate that Ambar’s family has a notorious criminal history, with both his parents previously imprisoned on narcotics-related charges.

    Seized Items and Criminal History

During the arrests, Ranchi Police confiscated:

    20 packets of brown sugar

    A country-made pistol

    A smartphone

    ₹1,300 cash

City SP Rajkumar Mehta confirmed that both suspects have previous criminal records, with multiple cases lodged against them at Sukhdev Nagar Police Station.

    Strategic Police Action

This operation was part of a broader anti-drug crackdown initiative by Ranchi Police. City SP Rajkumar Mehta assured that law enforcement agencies are committed to eradicating the narcotics trade from the region and dismantling all major supply networks.

    What Lies Ahead

The next phase of the investigation focuses on:

    Tracking down Ambar Kumar

Identifying other members of the smuggling network

Uncovering links to larger drug cartels operating across state borders

The police remain optimistic about unearthing crucial information that could expose the deeper layers of this illegal trade.

  • Hemant Soren: The Longest-Serving Chief Minister from Santhal Pargana
    My India Times    2024-12-09  51

Hemant Soren: The Longest-Serving Chief Minister from Santhal Pargana

A Legacy of Leadership in Santhal Pargana

Santhal Pargana, a region that has played a pivotal role in the political history of Jharkhand, has seen the rise of influential leaders such as Shibu Soren and his son Hemant Soren. While Shibu Soren, known as Dishom Guru, served as Chief Minister several times, his tenures were relatively short. Conversely, Hemant Soren has established himself as a prominent leader, serving as Chief Minister for an extended and more influential term. His enduring leadership has solidified his status in Jharkhand's political arena, particularly in the Santhal Pargana region.

Shibu Soren's Brief Tenures as Chief Minister

Shibu Soren, the founding figure of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), first assumed the role of Chief Minister in 2005. However, his initial term lasted just 10 days, a period marked by political instability. His return to power came twice more—once in 2008, serving for 6 months, and again from December 2009 to May 2010. Despite these brief stints, Shibu Soren’s contribution to the Jharkhand movement was undeniable, but his tenure was hindered by challenges in coalition politics.

Hemant Soren's Rise to Power and His First Term

Following in the footsteps of his father, Hemant Soren emerged as a leader of great promise for JMM. His first significant tenure as Chief Minister began on July 13, 2013, and lasted for 18 months, until December 2014. During this period, Hemant concentrated on tackling concerns related to tribal welfare, rural development, and social equity. His leadership deeply resonated with the constituents of Santhal Pargana, establishing a robust foundation for future political accomplishments.

Electoral Dynamics and Shifting Political Landscape

In the 2014 state elections, JMM proved its dominance in Santhal Pargana by securing 10 seats, while the BJP won a mere 2 seats. This victory underscored the deep-rooted support for JMM and Hemant’s leadership. By 2019, JMM maintained its influence in the region, winning 9 seats, while BJP’s tally increased slightly to 4 seats. These elections strengthened the public's long-standing faith in Hemant Soren's leadership and cemented his standing as Santhal Pargana's chief spokesperson.

Forming the Grand Alliance and a Monumental Tenure (2019-2024)

In 2019, a strategic alliance between JMM, Congress, and RJD was formed, with Hemant Soren leading the coalition. He was sworn in as Chief Minister on December 29, 2019, and his leadership focused on policies that favored tribal rights, development of infrastructure, and educational reforms. Despite challenges, including an ED arrest in an alleged land scam case, Hemant remained committed to his duties until January 31, 2024, when he resigned amidst legal pressures. His tenure was marked by his resilience in the face of adversities and his commitment to the people of Jharkhand.

    Champai Soren's Interim Leadership

During Hemant Soren’s legal challenges, Champai Soren, a senior and respected leader of JMM, took over as the acting Chief Minister. Champai’s leadership ensured stability in the state and helped maintain JMM’s dominance in Jharkhand while Hemant Soren navigated through his legal issues. This smooth transition of power underlined the strength and cohesion of the JMM party.

    Return to Power in 2024

After his release in July 2024, Hemant Soren made a triumphant return to the Chief Minister’s office, marking the continuation of his political journey. In November 2024, JMM secured a decisive victory in the assembly elections, winning 11 seats in Santhal Pargana alone. The coalition partners, Congress and RJD, contributed with 4 and 2 seats, respectively. The BJP, which once held ground in the region, was left with just 1 seat. This outcome reaffirmed Hemant’s dominant position in Jharkhand politics and demonstrated the deep loyalty of his supporters.

A Legacy of Stability and Influence

Hemant Soren’s leadership is a symbol of resilience and stability in Jharkhand’s volatile political arena. His tenure has been characterized by a deep commitment to tribal communities, social justice, and sustainable development. Hemant’s political journey is not just about longevity but about shaping the future of Santhal Pargana and Jharkhand as a whole. By continuously earning the trust of the electorate and steering the state through challenging times, Hemant has surpassed his father’s legacy and established himself as a political force to be reckoned with.

    Conclusion

Hemant Soren’s political trajectory from a young leader to the longest-serving Chief Minister from Santhal Pargana is a testament to his unwavering dedication and ability to overcome challenges. Through multiple terms, political setbacks, and legal hurdles, he has solidified his position as one of the most influential leaders in Jharkhand. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations of leaders in Santhal Pargana and beyond.
