Miss World 2025: Contestants Arrive in Telangana to Grand Traditional Welcome

As the contestants touched down at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, they were greeted with a warm and colorful traditional Indian welcome. Dressed in ethnic attire, local artists performed folk music and dances, while guests were adorned with garlands, tilak, and aarti – offering a heartfelt introduction to India’s rich cultural roots. Among the early arrivals were Emma Deanna Cathryn Morrison from Canada and Jessica Scandiuzzi Pedroso from Brazil, both of whom expressed their awe and admiration for the hospitality and festive atmosphere.

Hyderabad to Host the Mega Global Event

The bustling city of Hyderabad has officially taken center stage as the host of the 72nd Miss World pageant, set to unfold from May 10 to 31, 2025. According to organizers, both the opening ceremony and the grand finale will be held in the city, making it a historic moment for Telangana. Venues like the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium and HITEX Exhibition Centre have been prepped to host glamorous events that will bring together global celebrities, dignitaries, and the world's top beauty contestants.

Telangana Government's Vision for Global Branding

More than just a glamorous occasion, the Miss World event is being treated by the Telangana government as a powerful platform for global branding. A detailed action plan has been drawn up to leverage the competition to enhance the state’s image internationally. Officials say the main goal is to boost tourism, attract foreign investments, and show off Telangana’s rich culture, spiritual heritage, and history. They see this event as a great opportunity to put Telangana on the global stage in a really meaningful way.

Promoting Telangana’s Rich Cultural Heritage

Contestants will embark on specially curated cultural journeys to witness Telangana’s timeless heritage. Their tour takes them to some really cool spots like the Ramappa Temple in Warangal — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — along with famous places in Hyderabad like the Charminar, Chowmahalla Palace, and Laad Bazaar. The idea is to give everyone a real feel for Telangana’s rich history, art, and traditions. It’s also a great way to inspire travelers from around the world to dive into the lively, colorful roots of the state.

Traditional Art, Handlooms and Cuisine on Display

The event will also promote Telangana’s rich craftsmanship, particularly its famous handloom textiles such as Pochampally Ikat, Gadwal sarees, and Narayanpet weaves. The participants will have the opportunity to watch live weaving demonstrations and even try on traditional garments. The cuisine experience will also be a major highlight, offering a taste of regional dishes like Hyderabadi biryani, sarra kura, and jowar roti, accompanied by local sweets and refreshments that reflect the state’s diverse culinary palette.

Global Exposure for Tourism and Investments

With contestants from over 120 countries and live broadcasts in more than 150 nations, the Miss World event is expected to offer Telangana massive global exposure. The state’s tourism department is promoting Telangana as a “Multidimensional Tourism Hub”—blending heritage, eco-tourism, spiritual sites, and medical tourism under one brand. In 2024, Telangana attracted over 1.55 lakh international tourists, and officials are optimistic that this number will rise dramatically in the coming years due to this global spotlight.

Medical Tourism and Wellness Promotion

In addition to heritage and culture, Telangana is positioning itself as a global medical tourism destination. With some of the country’s top hospitals like Apollo, Yashoda, and AIG, the state is already known for advanced treatment facilities. During their visit, contestants and international delegates will be introduced to Ayurveda, wellness retreats, and holistic healthcare options that Telangana has to offer. This is part of a broader strategy to attract health-conscious tourists from across the globe.

Security and Comfort a Top Priority

Telangana is taking no chances when it comes to the safety and comfort of its international guests. According to Director General of Police, Jitender, special security arrangements have been made with enhanced surveillance, dedicated tourism police, and a multilingual help desk system across key venues and hotels. The state has also tied up with luxury hotels, airlines, and hospitality providers to ensure seamless services, high-end amenities, and memorable experiences for the guests.

Cultural Exchange and Social Impact Events

The Miss World pageant isn't just about glamour—it also includes “Beauty with a Purpose” events where contestants participate in social impact initiatives. This year, the participants will visit local NGOs, interact with students, and engage in women empowerment workshops. Cultural exchange programs will allow the guests to share their traditions while learning from India’s diverse heritage, adding depth and meaning to their journey.

A Major Leap for Telangana’s Tourism Policy

The event aligns perfectly with Telangana’s new Tourism Policy 2025–2030, which aims to develop 27 new tourism zones, attract ₹15,000 crore in investments, and create over three lakh jobs. This policy focuses on developing infrastructure, promoting sustainable tourism, and encouraging private sector involvement. The Miss World platform is expected to fast-track the execution of these goals by drawing global attention and support.

Big Festive Relief for Ration Card Holders: Government’s Major Decision Brings Cheer

As the festive season approaches, the government has rolled out a major welfare move to bring relief to millions of ration card holders across the country. This move is set to help millions of low-income families by making their monthly expenses a bit easier. It’s great because it allows them to enjoy upcoming festivals without stressing too much about money. The program offers more food supplies, direct cash support, and discounts on everyday essentials—all designed to support those who need it most.

Increased Ration Supply to Ease Household Burden

In a significant step, the government has announced that all valid ration card holders will receive extra food grains under the public distribution system. The ration quota will include additional quantities of rice, wheat, pulses, sugar, and other staples that form the backbone of a household’s kitchen. This move aims to ensure that no family goes hungry during the festive months when expenses typically rise.

The increase in ration will be automatically reflected for eligible families at their nearest ration shops, also known as Fair Price Shops (FPS). Families do not need to apply separately. The benefits will be based on the updated ration card database already linked with Aadhaar numbers.

₹1,000 Cash Benefit to White Ration Card Holders

In addition to the extra food supply, the government has approved a ₹1,000 direct cash benefit to be transferred to all white ration card holders. This one-time festive aid will be credited directly into their bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. This help is here to support families with festival-related costs like new clothes, sweets, decorations, and travel expenses. It’s a nice surprise for those already feeling the pinch from rising prices, job layoffs, or other money troubles, giving them a bit of extra help during the festivities. According to government officials, this amount is likely to be credited before the major festivals, ensuring people can plan ahead.

Essential Items at Discounted Prices

Apart from food grains and cash support, the government has also made arrangements to offer essential items at discounted prices at designated government shops and civil supply centers. Items such as cooking oil, spices, salt, soaps, and vegetables will be available at rates lower than the market price.

Many states have begun setting up “festive sale stalls” or “subsidy fairs” where families can shop for basic items at reduced rates. These stalls will remain active throughout the festive season and are monitored to prevent black marketing or hoarding.

Who Can Avail the Benefits?

The benefits are primarily targeted at families below the poverty line (BPL) who possess white ration cards. However, the extra ration benefits will also be extended to other ration card categories depending on the state government’s policy. To ensure smooth delivery of these benefits, the following conditions must be met:

The ration card must be valid and active

The cardholder’s Aadhaar number must be linked

The bank account details must be updated in the ration card database

Families must not be already receiving duplicate benefits under any other government scheme

No Need for New Applications

One of the most citizen-friendly aspects of this move is that no new application is required. All benefits will be processed using existing ration card records. Government officials have confirmed that verification is ongoing to ensure only genuine beneficiaries receive the aid.

Families are advised to visit their nearest ration shops or check online portals to verify their eligibility and update any pending details such as Aadhaar, phone number, or bank account information.

Public Reaction: A Wave of Relief and Gratitude

This decision has sparked a wave of appreciation from the public, especially among lower-income and rural households. Many citizens have taken to social media to thank the government for thinking about the common people during tough times.

A woman from a small village shared, “This ₹1,000 will help me buy new clothes and sweets for my children. We have been struggling, but now it feels like Diwali will be brighter.”

Retailers and Fair Price Shops Prepare for Rush

With the announcement of additional rations and discounted sales, ration shop owners are preparing for an increase in footfall. Many have started restocking their inventory, and the government has issued clear instructions to ensure no shortage or hoarding takes place.

Local administrative teams will monitor the functioning of these shops to ensure that items are fairly distributed and no corruption occurs during the festive rush.

Government’s Long-Term Vision for Welfare

Officials clarified that this move is not just a one-time gesture but part of a larger strategy to strengthen food security and welfare distribution across the country. The government is committed to ensuring that no citizen sleeps hungry and that every household can celebrate festivals with dignity.

This scheme is also aligned with other central and state-level programs such as the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, state pension schemes, and free LPG initiatives, all aimed at uplifting the economically weaker sections.

Public Raises Alarm Over Delays in Dial 100 Emergency Response in Telangana

In Telangana, growing concerns have emerged over the reliability of the state’s emergency response service, Dial 100. Lately, lots of people have been talking about their experiences on social media, mentioning things like unanswered calls, police taking a long time to show up, and not knowing where callers are calling from. These stories have really got people asking questions about whether emergency services are doing enough, especially during really serious situations like accidents, harassment, or violence.

Social Media Flooded With Complaints

One user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote that they had tried calling Dial 100 multiple times during an emergency, but no one answered. Another user said they had to call another number and spend time convincing someone to help, yet no support arrived on time. Screenshots showing missed calls and failed attempts to reach emergency help are spreading rapidly online, causing concern among people and catching the attention of the police.

Hyderabad Police Claim Significant Progress

In response, Parimala Hana Nutan, the Joint Commissioner of Police (Administration and Coordination) in Hyderabad, stated that every call to Dial 100 is taken seriously. She said the department has made significant improvements in recent times, and that the average response time in Hyderabad is now about six minutes. In rural areas, however, the time ranges between 10 to 12 minutes, mainly because of longer distances and network-related issues.

She also explained that delays often happen when the nearest mobile tower is located 2 to 5 kilometers away from the caller. Even if the patrol vehicle reaches the tower’s location, officers may still have to travel another kilometer to find the exact spot where help is needed.

Nearly 3 Lakh Emergency Calls in 2024

Official data from the Hyderabad Commissionerate shows that the department handled nearly 2,98,511 calls through Dial 100 in 2024. This is a significant number, and according to the police, the average response time has been reduced by almost 50 percent compared to last year.

In the April to June quarter of 2023, the response time was around 13 minutes. By the end of 2024, it had dropped to just over 6 minutes in urban areas. This data paints a picture of progress, but the public sentiment on the ground tells a different story.

Rural Areas Still Face Major Delays

Despite technological upgrades and better infrastructure in cities, people living in rural and semi-urban parts of Telangana still face delays when trying to access emergency help. The lack of strong mobile signal coverage, poor roads, and limited patrolling units are some of the main reasons why emergency responses take longer in these areas.

Many citizens say that while the numbers may look promising, their actual experiences don’t reflect the same improvements. They believe the system is still inconsistent and needs serious reform to ensure fast and reliable emergency help, regardless of where the caller is located.

New Feedback System Introduced

To address these issues and increase transparency, Telangana Police have introduced a QR-code-based feedback system. Citizens can now scan QR codes displayed on police vehicles and in police stations to provide direct feedback about their experience. A separate Citizen Feedback Call Centre has also been set up to follow up with callers, gather data, and improve services based on public input.

These steps are aimed at building trust between the police and the community and to hold officers accountable for delays or misconduct.

Experts Call for Further Improvements

While these measures are a move in the right direction, critics argue that more needs to be done. Experts say that GPS-based caller tracking, better training for field staff, and more patrol vehicles in rural areas are essential to ensure no call for help goes unanswered.

Transparency is also key. Activists have demanded that the police department release monthly data on Dial 100 response times, broken down by district and type of emergency, so that citizens can monitor performance for themselves.

Telangana’s Top Policing Rank Under Question

Interestingly, Telangana has been ranked one of the top-performing states in India in terms of policing, according to the India Justice Report 2025. The state scored well on various parameters, including police staffing, training, crime solving, and public satisfaction.

However, the recent complaints over Dial 100 have cast a shadow over that reputation. Many people believe that while the state may be doing well on paper, the real-life experiences of citizens, especially those in rural areas, suggest that the system is still flawed.

Revanth Reddy Welcomes BC Caste Census, Promotes Telangana Model Nationwide

Telangana Chief Minister and Congress leader Revanth Reddy has enthusiastically welcomed the growing national momentum for a Backward Class (BC) caste census, calling it a long-overdue step toward real social justice. Talking to the media, Reddy pointed out that collecting caste-based data is really important for making sure policies are fair and comprehensive. He also encouraged the central government to go ahead with a nationwide caste census. Reddy happily emphasized that Telangana is already making strides in this area, and their approach could really are a model for the whole country.

Telangana Launches Ground-Level BC Survey

Revanth Reddy highlighted that the Telangana government has already initiated a state-level comprehensive BC survey, collecting in-depth data from village to urban level. This includes details about the community’s demographics, education levels, jobs, income, land ownership, and access to welfare programs. Reddy mentioned that the goal is to use this info to help fix the long-standing inequalities in representation and resource sharing.

The Chief Minister emphasized that this isn’t just about the numbers — it’s really about fixing decades of imbalance when it comes to how public welfare has been handled. He added, “You can’t fix what you don’t actually measure. “For far too long, governments have formulated policies in the absence of actual caste data. This has left many BC communities behind.”

Telangana Model: A Roadmap for Inclusive Governance

According to Reddy, Telangana’s model is built on transparency, accuracy, and grassroots engagement. The survey is happening with input from local officials, data analysts, and community groups to make sure everyone in BC is counted and understood. The guy emphasized that these surveys shouldn’t just be some boring paperwork — they’re a way to actually change how government works.

“We have launched this mission not for electoral gain, but to build a more inclusive society,” he asserted. “We want every policy to reflect the true needs of every backward class citizen — whether in health, education, or employment.”

Calls for a National Commission for BC Census

Revanth Reddy has also urged the Central government to establish a National Commission for BC Census, comprising experts in sociology, public policy, and data science, to ensure the process is independent, scientific, and politically neutral. He argued that this commission could lay the foundation for a data-driven welfare state that empowers the historically marginalized.

“The time has come to end the guesswork,” Reddy said. “Only a proper BC caste census can help formulate reservation policies, scholarship distributions, and welfare budgets in a way that’s fair, inclusive, and justified.”

Sharp Criticism of BJP’s Delay in Action

In a direct swipe at the BJP-led Central government, Revanth Reddy criticized the delay and reluctance in conducting a national caste census. He accused the Modi government of using symbolism rather than substance when it comes to backward communities. “They talk about social justice during elections but do nothing to institutionalize it. Congress, on the other hand, is taking real steps on the ground.”

Reddy credited Rahul Gandhi for bringing the caste census issue to the national spotlight through campaigns like Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which emphasized equitable rights, representation, and dignity for all communities, including BCs, SCs, and STs.

Caste Census: A Growing National Demand

Several states including Bihar, Tamil Nadu, and now Telangana are actively pursuing or have completed some form of caste census. Political observers note that the demand for caste enumeration is gaining traction across the country, especially in states with large backward caste populations. The pressure is now mounting on the Centre to break its silence and take a decisive step.

Revanth Reddy believes that if the Centre adopts Telangana’s model, it could create a framework for equity-oriented policies at the national level. “You cannot ignore the realities of social structure in India. To ignore caste is to ignore inequality itself,” he said.

Empowering the Marginalized Through Data

The Telangana Chief Minister said the real value of caste census data lies in how it will be used. His government plans to use the findings to adjust welfare schemes, allocate funds more equitably, and enhance BC representation in higher education and government jobs.

“This is not about dividing people,” he clarified. “It’s about giving voice and visibility to those who’ve been invisible for too long.”

Reddy also announced that once Telangana’s survey is complete, the data will be made public in a transparent manner, setting a national precedent for openness in governance.

Political and Social Impact of Telangana’s Initiative

Experts suggest that Revanth Reddy’s assertive stance could strengthen Congress's outreach among BC communities nationwide. The move not only boosts his image as a reformer but also positions Telangana as a pioneer in inclusive governance.

With the 2024 Lok Sabha elections approaching, the BC caste census is fast emerging as a key electoral issue. Reddy’s push for data-backed social justice may give the Congress party a strategic edge, especially in southern states and among marginalized groups looking for genuine representation.

India Acts Fast: Telangana Deports Pakistani Nationals Without Delay

In the wake of the brutal Pahalgam terror attack, the Indian government has moved swiftly to tighten its internal security. Following clear instructions from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the Telangana police have kicked off a big operation to send back 33 Pakistani nationals who are currently living in the state. This move shows India’s strong stand on national security and makes it clear that there’s no room for leniency when it comes to foreign nationals during such sensitive times.

Regular Visas Cancelled, Medical Visas Temporarily Exempted

The Centre’s order specifies that from April 27 onwards, all regular visas issued to Pakistani citizens will be cancelled. The only exception is for medical visas, which will remain valid until April 29. Long-Term Visas (LTVs), diplomatic visas, and official visas are exempted from this new directive. Authorities are making it clear: only those with valid, exceptional circumstances can stay — the rest must leave immediately.

Who Will Be Deported? Telangana’s Numbers Revealed

As per official data, there are 232 Pakistani nationals living in Telangana under different visa categories. Out of these, 33 individuals hold regular visas and are now under deportation orders. The remaining 199 Pakistani nationals hold LTVs and will not be affected by the visa cancellation move. Hyderabad city itself accounts for four of the individuals now under close watch, with birth years ranging from 1985 to as recent as 2023.

‘Leave India’ Notices Issued Without Delay

Authorities have wasted no time in implementing the Centre’s directive. ‘Leave India’ notices are being actively issued to the affected individuals. Speaking to the media, Chaitanya Kumar, DCP, Hyderabad Special Branch, stressed that there would be "no delays, no excuses." All individuals under notice are being closely monitored, and their documents, photographs, and residential details have already been thoroughly verified.

Special Cases Under MHA Review

While most cases are straightforward, some special situations require further clarification from the Ministry. For example, in the Rachakonda Commissionerate, a Pakistani woman’s deportation is pending due to an ongoing court stay. She had married an Indian man in Saudi Arabia in 2011 and later sought LTV status in India. In Cyberabad, authorities are handling the case of a divorced Indian woman who returned from Pakistan with her child. While the woman is allowed to stay, the child, being a Pakistani citizen, must be deported according to existing rules.

Continuous Surveillance of Pakistani Nationals

Telangana Police confirmed that all individuals targeted for deportation are under strict surveillance. Their movements, associations, and activities have been closely tracked for months, and detailed dossiers have been maintained. "We have every document on file. Monitoring has been non-stop. There’s no scope for any mistake," emphasized Sai Sri, DCP, Cyberabad Special Branch.

Attari Border and Air Travel Rules

The primary exit point designated for these deportations is the Attari border in Punjab. Pakistani nationals have been instructed to leave via land routes before the April 30 deadline. Those who choose to leave by air must depart from either Delhi or Mumbai airports, traveling on foreign airlines to Pakistan. Hyderabad airport is not recognized as a direct exit point for Pakistani nationals, meaning anyone wishing to leave from Hyderabad must first transit through countries like Saudi Arabia or Dubai.

Streamlined Deportation Process Across Commissionerates

The tri-commissionerates of Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda are working in close coordination to ensure a smooth deportation process. Each individual must first report to the Special Branch, where their documents will be scrutinized, their departure form will be generated, and immigration authorities will be notified. Flight tickets must be booked and presented well in advance, leaving no room for last-minute hitches.

Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Forms Committee to Boost Telugu Cinema Amid Pushpa 2 Controversy

In a major step to address challenges faced by the Telugu film industry, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has announced the formation of a Cabinet sub-committee. This initiative is aimed at resolving critical issues, particularly as the industry grapples with the controversy surrounding Pushpa 2: The Rule, the much-awaited sequel to the 2021 blockbuster.

Support for Telugu Cinema

Telugu cinema, often referred to as Tollywood, has become a global phenomenon with hits like Baahubali, RRR, and Pushpa. Despite its success, the industry faces challenges such as high taxation, regulatory bottlenecks, and inadequate infrastructure for filmmaking.

During the announcement, CM Revanth Reddy highlighted the importance of Telugu cinema to the state's cultural identity and economic growth. "The Telugu film industry is a source of pride for Telangana. This committee will work to remove hurdles and ensure a supportive environment for filmmakers," he said.

The Pushpa 2 Dispute

The move comes amidst the legal and logistical challenges faced by Pushpa 2: The Rule. Starring Allu Arjun and directed by Sukumar, the film is caught up in allegations related to land use during production, creating delays and sparking public debates.

Addressing the issue, CM Reddy assured, "We are committed to ensuring a fair resolution of the Pushpa 2 case without compromising the interests of the industry or the public."

Key Focus Areas for the Committee

The newly formed Cabinet sub-committee will address several critical issues:

  • Tax Reforms: Introducing a more balanced taxation system to make movie tickets affordable.
  • Infrastructure Development: Strengthening Telangana’s production facilities to support world-class filmmaking.
  • Streamlining Approvals: Simplifying permissions and reducing delays for film shoots and releases.
  • Dispute Management: Establishing clear guidelines to avoid disruptions like those faced by Pushpa 2.

Industry Welcomes the Move

The Telugu film industry has welcomed this decision, seeing it as a positive step toward long-term growth. Producers, directors, and actors expressed hope that the government’s intervention would bring tangible benefits.

Veteran producer Dil Raju shared his thoughts, saying, “This initiative is a much-needed lifeline for our industry. With the government’s support, we can focus more on creativity and less on bureaucracy.”

Meanwhile, director Sukumar, who is helming Pushpa 2, remarked, “The committee’s formation shows the government’s commitment to our industry’s progress. It’s encouraging for filmmakers like me.”

Telangana’s Role in Indian Cinema

Telangana has emerged as a hub for the Indian film industry, with Hyderabad hosting Ramoji Film City, the world’s largest film studio complex. Over the years, the state government has worked to enhance its position as a top destination for filmmakers, offering incentives and infrastructure support.

The formation of the sub-committee reaffirms the government’s dedication to strengthening the industry. By tackling systemic challenges and promoting innovation, Telangana is paving the way for a brighter future for Telugu cinema.

Looking Ahead

The sub-committee is expected to meet with key stakeholders in the coming weeks. Resolving the Pushpa 2 dispute remains a top priority, along with addressing broader issues like taxation and infrastructure.

With Pushpa 2 generating immense global anticipation, this timely government action is a boost not just for the film but for the entire Telugu film industry. This initiative promises to ensure that Telugu cinema continues to shine on the global stage while addressing the challenges that come with its growing success.

Telangana CM to Walk Along Musi River Course: A Sy

In a gesture aimed at raising awareness about the Musi River’s pollution and connecting directly with the people of Nalgonda, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is set to embark on a symbolic 5 km walkathon along the Musi River course on his birthday, November 8, 2024.

A Personal Commitment to the Environment and the People

The walkathon, which will take place in the heart of the Nalgonda district, is more than just a celebratory gesture. It is an opportunity for CM Revanth Reddy to engage with the residents who live alongside the river and are directly affected by its pollution. The Musi River, once a lifeline for many communities, has faced severe environmental degradation over the years, causing distress for farmers, local communities, and wildlife.

“The pollution of the Musi River has been a long-standing issue. This walk is not only about raising awareness but also about hearing the voices of those who live near the river and are suffering due to the poor water quality,” CM Reddy shared in a statement ahead of the walkathon.

The Human Cost of Pollution

For local residents like Ravi, a farmer from Nalgonda, the pollution of the Musi River has affected more than just the environment—it has harmed livelihoods. "The water that used to irrigate our crops is now unsafe. We've seen a decline in crop yields, and the pollution has affected our way of life. We hope the government takes more concrete steps to clean up the river and ensure a sustainable future for us," Ravi said, highlighting the direct impact on farmers.

Similarly, Meena, a school teacher in Nalgonda, expresses concern over the health implications. “Children from our community often play by the river, but it’s so polluted that we are worried about their health. I’m hopeful that this walk will draw more attention to the issue,” she adds.

A Spiritual Start to the Day

Before the walkathon, CM Revanth Reddy will visit the Yadagirigutta Narasimha Swamy temple to offer prayers with his family. The visit to the temple, known for its spiritual significance, will mark the beginning of his birthday celebrations and set a positive tone for the rest of the day. The ritualistic puja is also seen as a way to seek divine blessings for the welfare of the people and the success of the river’s restoration efforts.

Listening to the People

After the walk, CM Reddy plans to meet with farmers and other sections of the community affected by the Musi River's pollution. By engaging directly with the people, he hopes to understand their concerns and gather suggestions on how to tackle the environmental crisis. The Chief Minister has emphasized that this walk will be a stepping stone in developing a comprehensive action plan for cleaning the river and ensuring the long-term sustainability of water resources in the region.

“We need to work together with the people to restore the Musi River to its original glory. It’s not just an environmental issue—it’s a health, livelihood, and future issue. This walk is a step toward finding solutions that will benefit all those who depend on the river,” CM Reddy remarked.

A Vision for a Cleaner, Healthier Future

The walkathon, while symbolic, represents a larger vision for the Musi River's future—one that includes a cleaner, healthier river for future generations. For the people of Nalgonda, this initiative provides hope that their voices are being heard and that their struggles with pollution will no longer be ignored.

As the Chief Minister walks along the river’s course, his efforts are expected to spark further conversation and action around environmental sustainability and the restoration of vital water bodies across Telangana.

Telangana to Set Up New Food Safety Labs in Warang

In a major step toward enhancing public health and food safety, the Telangana government has announced the establishment of three new food safety laboratories in the districts of Warangal, Mahbubnagar, and Nizamabad. Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha made this announcement on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, during the ‘Food Safety: Ensuring Quality through Compliance’ event organized by the Food Safety Department at the Indian Institute of Health and Family Welfare in Hyderabad.

A Statewide Commitment to Food Safety

“Food safety is not just about regulation; it’s about ensuring that every citizen in Telangana has access to safe, healthy food,” Minister Raja Narasimha stated during the event. The decision to establish these new labs comes at a crucial time when the state has seen an exponential increase in the number of Food Business Operators (FBOs) and restaurants, especially in urban areas.

Currently, Telangana has only one food safety laboratory located in Nacharam, operational since 1971. The lab, though effective, has become overwhelmed by the rapid growth in the food industry, serving a state with over 10 crore residents and a booming food service sector. The new labs, which will be equipped with state-of-the-art testing facilities, are designed to provide timely analysis and ensure that food safety regulations are met more effectively across the state.

The People’s Perspective: Safety in Every Bite

For families like Meena’s, who live in Warangal, the new lab represents a significant shift toward food safety that they can trust. Meena, a homemaker and mother of two, says, “I always worry about what my children eat outside the home. Sometimes, we hear about foodborne illnesses, and it makes me nervous. With the lab in Warangal, I feel like there’s a system in place to keep our food safe. It’s reassuring.”

In Nizamabad, local vendor Harish, who runs a popular food stall, is hopeful about the government’s new initiative. “As a small business owner, I’ve always tried to ensure the food I serve is safe, but having a dedicated food safety lab nearby will make things easier. It will also boost the confidence of my customers knowing that the food is being tested regularly.”

Improving Compliance Across the State

The establishment of these labs is also a win for businesses that strive for excellence in food safety standards. Telangana’s food safety compliance rates have been inconsistent, and many restaurants and food outlets have struggled with the logistics of submitting food samples to the single lab in Nacharam. With more testing facilities, compliance will be streamlined, helping businesses meet health standards without delays.

Speaking about the benefits, Food Safety Commissioner A. K. Sharma noted, “By decentralizing food safety testing, we will not only reduce the burden on the Nacharam lab but also provide businesses in rural and suburban areas with quicker access to testing services. This will lead to better monitoring and higher food safety standards across the state.”

A Long-Term Vision for Health and Wellness

The new food safety labs are just part of a broader vision for Telangana’s public health infrastructure. Minister Raja Narasimha emphasized that improving food safety was directly linked to the state’s efforts to promote overall wellness, reduce foodborne diseases, and enhance public confidence in the food industry.

“We are not just building labs—we’re building a culture of safety that starts with food and extends to all aspects of health and wellness,” the minister concluded.

Looking Ahead: A Healthier Telangana for All

As the new food safety laboratories in Warangal, Mahbubnagar, and Nizamabad prepare to open, the people of Telangana can expect more rigorous monitoring of food standards and a greater sense of security when it comes to what they eat. For residents like Meena and Harish, these changes promise not just a healthier tomorrow, but a proactive step toward making Telangana a model for food safety in the country.

In an exciting development for the people of Warangal, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced that the much-anticipated master plan for the comprehensive development of the historic city is now in its final stages. This plan, aimed at preparing Warangal to meet the needs of its rapidly growing population, is expected to provide solutions that will last well into the year 2050.

A Growing City, A Growing Need

With a population of over 10 lakh and expanding rapidly, Warangal faces challenges that are becoming increasingly complex. Traffic congestion, inadequate infrastructure, and a shortage of modern amenities have plagued the city for years. But the new master plan promises to transform Warangal into a modern, well-equipped urban center that can handle these pressures and more.

“We’re envisioning a Warangal that is not only sustainable but also capable of preserving its rich cultural heritage while meeting the demands of a growing population,” said Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, who highlighted that the plan is designed with the future in mind, to sustain the city's development at least until 2050.

Warangal’s People: The Heart of the Plan

For residents like Venkat, a small business owner in Warangal, the master plan is a ray of hope. “Traffic is a nightmare in the mornings. The roads are congested, and basic services like waste management are often a struggle. If this plan can fix these issues, it will make life so much better for us,” says Venkat, who’s been living in the city for over two decades.

Similarly, Anjali, a teacher at a local school, believes that the plan could significantly improve educational infrastructure. “We need better schools, more classrooms, and upgraded facilities. A well-planned city can ensure that our children have access to quality education in a safe environment,” she says.

    Sustainability Meets Heritage

The Warangal master plan isn’t just about urban development—it's about blending modernity with the city's rich cultural heritage. Known for its ancient monuments and historical significance, Warangal holds a unique place in Telangana’s heart. The master plan aims to preserve this history while accommodating urban growth.

“Our historical monuments are a source of pride, and they should be part of the city’s future as well. The master plan will ensure that the city’s growth doesn’t come at the cost of its heritage,” stated the minister, emphasizing that tourism, alongside urban development, will receive significant attention.

Focus on Green Spaces and Technology

The master plan also includes provisions for green spaces, sustainable transportation, and smart city technologies. “We are designing a Warangal that’s not just bigger, but smarter and greener,” says the minister. The plan will introduce state-of-the-art public transportation, smart traffic management systems, and green zones to enhance the quality of life.

For residents like Saroja, a homemaker, this vision of a greener, more connected city is something she’s eagerly awaiting. “It will be nice to have parks and cleaner air to enjoy. We’ve waited long for a city that cares about the environment,” she shares.

The Road Ahead: A Vision for 2050

As Warangal enters the final stages of this ambitious development plan, the eyes of its citizens are on the future. The master plan is not just a blueprint for infrastructure—it’s a vision for a sustainable, vibrant, and inclusive city that can support generations to come.

“The people of Warangal deserve a city that can grow with them. This master plan is our commitment to the future,” Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy concluded.

CM Revanth Reddy Briefs Rahul Gandhi on Telangana

In a significant political meeting held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy briefed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi about the government's performance during its first year in power. The one-on-one discussion, held at the Rajiv Gandhi Ideology Centre in Bowenpally, followed consultations with BC leaders, intellectuals, and party leaders regarding the ongoing caste census.

A Year of Change: The Road So Far

With nearly one year of Congress governance in Telangana under his belt, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy shared a detailed overview of the government’s key achievements, challenges, and the work still left to do. The meeting comes at a crucial juncture, as the Congress-led administration seeks to fulfill its promises to the people, especially those concerning socio-economic reforms, education, and caste-based data collection.

“It’s been a year of hard work, and we’re seeing progress on several fronts,” said Revanth Reddy, speaking about the government's efforts to implement policies aimed at uplifting marginalized communities. According to sources, Rahul Gandhi expressed satisfaction with the ongoing work and hoped that the promises made during the election campaign would be fully realized, ensuring that the welfare of Telangana’s people remains the priority.

Personal Stories: The Ground Reality of Governance

While the political landscape continues to evolve, it is the people of Telangana who feel the real impact of government policies. Take the case of Lakshmi, a woman from a rural village in Telangana who has benefitted from the government’s new educational schemes. “I feel like the new government really cares about us. My children now have access to better schooling, and I’m hopeful for the future,” Lakshmi shares.

Similarly, farmers in the region, such as Shankar, have started to feel the benefits of government-led agricultural reforms. “I’ve seen the government focus more on improving farming techniques and providing better subsidies. It’s small, but it’s a step forward,” he says, reflecting the nuanced and varied responses to government actions on the ground.

Caste Census: A Critical Dialogue for the Future

The briefing also touched on the caste census—a critical issue in Telangana, as the government seeks accurate data to ensure more inclusive policies for backward classes. Revanth Reddy emphasized the importance of this census in assessing the social and economic situation of marginalized communities, which is expected to play a pivotal role in the state’s development planning.

Rahul Gandhi, acknowledging the significance of the caste census, remarked, “This data will provide the foundation for understanding the real needs of every section of society. It’s crucial for crafting targeted policies that leave no one behind.”

The Personal Connection: Revanth and Rahul Gandhi’s Partnership

The one-on-one meeting at the Rajiv Gandhi Ideology Centre underscored the strengthening of ties between Telangana’s Chief Minister and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Sources close to the leaders mentioned that the discussion was not only about governance but also about personal growth and political responsibility. For Revanth Reddy, this meeting marked an important moment in his political journey as he seeks to balance governance with maintaining strong relationships within the party.

“It’s always valuable to receive guidance and feedback from Rahul Gandhi. His vision for the country and the party is clear, and I’m committed to fulfilling our promises to the people of Telangana,” said Revanth Reddy after the meeting.

What Lies Ahead: The Promise of Change

As the Congress-led government in Telangana enters its second year, the expectations are high. The people of Telangana, from urban centers to remote villages, await the complete realization of promises made during the elections, especially in areas of welfare, infrastructure, and education. The meeting between Revanth Reddy and Rahul Gandhi serves as a reminder that the road to fulfilling these promises is long but filled with hope for a better, more inclusive future.

Telangana Citizens Losing ₹4-₹5 Crore Daily to

In a disturbing revelation, Telangana's Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) director, Shikha Goel, announced that citizens in the state are losing between ₹4-₹5 crore every single day to cyber criminals, placing Telangana among the top five victimized states in India. This alarming statistic was shared at the second edition of the Hyderabad Annual Cyber Security Knowledge (H.A.C.K 2.0) Summit held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.

A Statewide Crisis: The Human Toll of Cybercrime

The statistics are sobering: every day, an average of ₹4-₹5 crore vanishes into the hands of cyber criminals, leaving countless individuals and businesses grappling with financial and emotional fallout. “Cybercrimes are no longer just a digital inconvenience; they’re wrecking lives and livelihoods,” says Shikha Goel, who highlighted that the state’s citizens call the 1930 helpline at least 1,200 times daily, seeking help after falling victim to fraud.

A Personal Story: The Cost of a Click

One such victim is Arvind Reddy, a small-business owner from Hyderabad, who recently lost ₹50,000 to an online scam. “I got a call about an amazing offer on a gadget. It seemed legitimate, but before I realized it, my money was gone. The fraudsters had all my bank details,” Arvind shares. He is not alone—many like him are falling prey to increasingly sophisticated cybercrimes that exploit everyday vulnerabilities.

    The Silent Culprit: Human Error

Director Shikha Goel stressed that 96% of cybercrimes in Telangana are caused by human error. Simple actions like clicking on fraudulent links, responding to phishing emails, or sharing sensitive information with unknown callers are often the triggers. As digital spaces become more intertwined with daily life, the line between legitimate and fraudulent activity becomes increasingly blurred, especially for unsuspecting victims.

Fighting Back: Cyber Security Awareness and Prevention

The Telangana government is not standing still in the face of this crisis. Authorities are ramping up efforts to raise public awareness through initiatives like the H.A.C.K 2.0 Summit, which serves as a platform for discussing solutions to this growing threat. Law enforcement agencies are also enhancing their training and collaboration with national cyber agencies to ensure quicker responses and more effective investigations.

“We must turn the tide by educating our citizens. Everyone needs to understand how to safeguard their personal information online,” says Hyderabad Commissioner of Police C.V. Anand. In addition, the state is pushing for the adoption of secure online practices, such as two-factor authentication and regular monitoring of bank accounts, to mitigate risks.

What Can You Do? Simple Steps to Stay Safe

In response to the rising cyber threat, experts are urging citizens to adopt more secure digital habits. Some key recommendations include:

    1. Don’t click on suspicious links: Always verify URLs before clicking.
    2. Never share sensitive information over the phone: Legitimate organizations will never ask for personal details via calls or messages.
    3. Use multi-factor authentication: Protect your online accounts with extra layers of security.
    4. Stay updated: Regularly update your software and apps to avoid vulnerabilities.

    A Call for Collective Responsibility

While government initiatives and law enforcement are crucial, the battle against cybercrime ultimately relies on a collective effort. “Cybercrime is not just a technical issue; it’s a societal one. The responsibility lies with all of us to stay vigilant and informed,” said DGP (Cyber Security Bureau) Shikha Goel.

    Conclusion: The Road Ahead

As Telangana continues to grapple with a growing wave of cybercrimes, the stakes couldn’t be higher. But with proactive measures, better awareness, and a collective sense of responsibility, the state can take back control of its digital landscape. For now, it’s a race against time to prevent further damage—and protect the citizens who are unknowingly putting themselves at risk with every click.

  • Telangana Launches Historic Caste Census, Targetin
    My India Times   2024-11-07  104

Telangana Launches Historic Caste Census, Targetin

In a major step toward social inclusion and better governance, the Government of Telangana has launched a comprehensive caste census, aiming to assess the social, financial, educational, employment, political, and caste-related status of 1.17 crore families across the state. The ambitious exercise, which kicked off on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, is set to be completed within three weeks.

A Deep Dive into the Diverse Social Fabric of Telangana

Unlike previous data collection efforts, this census is designed to provide a granular understanding of the socio-economic challenges faced by families across the state, especially those from the Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Backward Classes (BC). For the first time, the state will have a detailed map of the educational and economic status of all communities, including those not traditionally covered under specific government welfare schemes.

    Empowering Policy-Making with Real-Time Data

The government plans to use the data collected through this exercise for informed policy-making. This data will provide insights into the unique challenges faced by different communities and help tailor policies that aim to uplift marginalized groups, including improving access to education, healthcare, and employment opportunities. The census will also play a pivotal role in strengthening the implementation of various welfare schemes designed to narrow the socio-economic divide.

    Human Stories Behind the Data

While numbers tell part of the story, it’s the human experience behind these statistics that will shape the future of Telangana. Meet families like that of Ramulu, a small farmer from a tribal village, who is hopeful that this census will bring much-needed attention to the lack of infrastructure and education in his community. “This could be the turning point for us,” says Ramulu, highlighting the hope of many marginalized groups that this census will lead to more targeted governmental support.

    Challenges and Opportunities Ahead

The task of enumerating over a crore families in just three weeks is no small feat. With trained surveyors visiting remote areas, there are inherent challenges, including geographical barriers and ensuring data accuracy. However, the Telangana government has pledged its commitment to ensuring transparency and accuracy, with the use of modern technology to track and verify data collection in real time.

Looking Ahead: A Blueprint for Future Generations

This census is not just a statistical exercise; it is a vision for an inclusive and equitable future. With the data in hand, Telangana hopes to create a roadmap for socio-economic progress that is based on the lived experiences of its people, ensuring that no community is left behind in the journey toward growth and development.
