Sudden Weather Change Brings Relief From Heat in Uttar Pradesh
After days of scorching heat across Uttar Pradesh, the weather has taken a dramatic turn.
For almost 70 districts in the state, including Ghaziabad, Noida, Lucknow, Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Kanpur, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a thunderstorm and rainfall alert. The most recent forecast indicates that during the next 24 hours, strong winds with top speeds of 60 km/h could affect a number of areas.
Although authorities have advised residents to exercise caution due to the possibility of dust storms, lightning, and falling trees or electric poles, the abrupt change in weather is expected to provide temporary relief from the extreme summer heat.
Western Disturbance Active Over North India
Meteorologists say the current weather activity is being caused by a fresh western disturbance that has become active over North India. Both the eastern and western regions of Uttar Pradesh are affected by this system, according to weather scientist Atul Kumar Singh.
Light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds, is likely in many districts. Some areas may also witness isolated heavy showers and lightning activity. Experts predict that temperatures will rise sharply once more after the weather system weakens in the next day or two.
Monsoon Likely to Enter UP by June 24
The IMD has also shared an update regarding the southwest monsoon. According to weather officials, the monsoon is expected to enter Uttar Pradesh around June 24 through the Gorakhpur region. Until then, the state may continue to witness unstable weather conditions due to western disturbances and cyclonic circulations.
Districts Under Rain and Storm Alert
The weather department has placed several districts under alert, especially in eastern and western Uttar Pradesh.
Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Noida, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, Ballia, Azamgarh, Mau, Raebareli, Amethi, Sultanpur, Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Mathura, Hathras, Etah, Mainpuri, and Auraiya are on the list.
During thunderstorms, residents in these districts have been advised to stay away from weak structures, avoid standing beneath trees, and avoid making unnecessary trips.
No Major Drop Expected in Temperature
Despite rainfall activity, meteorologists say there will not be a significant drop in temperature. Banda remained the hottest district in Uttar Pradesh on Friday with a maximum temperature of 42.2 degrees Celsius. Varanasi recorded 42°C, while Jhansi and Bahraich reported temperatures above 40°C.
Weather experts warn that humidity levels may increase further, making conditions uncomfortable even after light rainfall.
Weather Pattern May Continue Till Saturday
According to the weather office in Amausi, a cyclonic circulation remains active over Haryana and central Uttar Pradesh. In addition, a long trough line has formed across the region, which may keep weather conditions unstable till Saturday.
Meanwhile, cities like Lucknow witnessed cloudy skies and cooler winds on Friday, giving residents a brief break from the ongoing heatwave.
With strong winds and rain expected across multiple districts, officials are urging people to stay updated with local weather advisories and take necessary precautions during outdoor activities.....
